1 Perceived mom insult triggers fit of rage Security at St. Anthony Hospital,11600 W. Second Place, and an angry man simultaneously flagged down a patrol car on Oct. 30. The man had been discharged earlier and became enraged, suspecting hospital staff talked about his mom. Staff said he verbally attacked them and took a few swings at security. He was arrested and screamed profanities in the back of the patrol car as he attempted to destroy a window.

2Drug-carrying man chats with police. A man walking north on Teller Street at 16th Avenue on Oct. 29 took a police officer up on his offer to stop and have a friendly talk. The man asked if the stop was related to trespassing at the nearby Wal-Mart. No, said the officer, before he ran the man’s name and arrested him on an outstanding warrant. A bag of meth and other drugs were found on the suspect, who said he purchased the meth from a man named Rob at the Bugs Bunny Motel.

3 D.U.I suspect attracts attention A suspected drunken driver caught the attention of police on Oct. 30 when he drove by them with a rear flat tire, shooting sparks from the metal rim grinding on the concrete in the area of West Jewell Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard.

4 Police find trove of drug paraphernalia. A traffic stop for lack of registration tags at 3 a.m. Oct. 29 in the area of West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard yielded a bounty of drug paraphernalia as police did an inventory before the car was impounded. The driver had failed to provide a license, registration or proof of insurance. The stop earned him four charges.
