High school student-athletes across Colorado signed for their prospective colleges Wednesday as the early period for the national letter of intent signing began.
The early signing period runs through Wednesday for all sports except football, soccer and men’s water polo. The period to sign for those three sports begins Feb. 4, 2015.
At Regis Jesuit High School, five members of the boys and girls swimming teams signed with NCAA Division I schools. Kyle Goodwin (Missouri), Will Pieseski (Miami of Ohio), Quinlan Stuart (North Carolina State), Garrett Suter (Seattle) and Taylor Wilson (Villanova) signed during a ceremony at the school.
“It takes an incredible amount of work and time for these young people to do what they want and get where they are,” Regis boys and girls swim coach Nick Frasersmith said during the ceremony.
Jess Lewis, the starting point guard for the Raiders’ 2014 girls state champion basketball team, signed with Army.
Austin Conway of Overland signed to play basketball at Wyoming.
At Legacy High School, catcher Wyatt Cross signed to play baseball at the University of North Carolina.
Eaglecrest’s Jordyn Poulter, a member of the U.S. U-20 women’s volleyball team this summer, signed to play with Illinois.
Haley McLaren signed with Oregon and Katie Patrick with Navy from Class 5A state volleyball champion Grandview.
