saturday-nov. 23. Opera Colorado’s “Madama Butterfly” has a lot going for it right out of the gate. A fascinating soprano in Xiu Ying Li, a star in both China and the U.S.; a multitalented director in Keturah Stickann, who built her reputation as a choreographer before making a name as production boss; and a skilled conductor in Ari Pelto, who leads from the pit across the globe and now advises the company on a regular basis. The lineup should do right with Puccini’s tragic tale of a young Japanese woman whose love affair with a naval officer ends on a sour note. Tickets are selling well for this production — Tuesday’s performance might be your best bet for a good seat. Nov. 15-23, Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver Performing Arts Complex. $22-157. 303-468-2030 or .
