Artists Melissa Furness and Matt Scobey will represent city at Biennial of the Americas

Four artists — two from Denver and two more from Mexico City — have been selected to represent their cities at the 2015 , and will exhibit their work during next summer’s festivities.

The local artists, and , will each spend 10 weeks in Mexico City preparing their shows under the guidance of the contemporary art museum SOMA.

In exchange, Mexican artists Cristobal Gracia and Daniel Monroy Cuevas, will come to Denver to work with the organization Art Plant.

The work they create will go before the public starting July 14, at the in Civic Center, headquarters for Denver’s five-day celebration of art and ideas throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Artists were nominated from across the two cities and the ambassadors were selected by SOMA’s Carla Herrera-Prats and ArtPlant’s Adam Gildar.
