Lauren Salazar of New Belgium (provided by New Belgium)

As 2014 comes to a close, we’re once again asking leading figures on the Colorado beer scene to reflect on the past year and look ahead to next. This, the second installment in our 4th annual Beer in Review series, features Lauren Salazar, wood cellar and specialty brand manager for New Belgium Brewing Co. Lauren is looking forward to bringing back Cocoa Molé and filling 64 foudres in the brewery’s barrel forest by the start of next year – including the return of Eric’s Ale. Lauren’s picks:

Favorite beer of the year: Perennial Artisan Ales’ Abraxas – and holding strong!

Colorado brewery of the year: Equinox Brewing, my favorite hometown pub. The beers and the people are the absolute best!

New Colorado brewery of the year: Horse and Dragon Brewing, just because I LOVE everything Lindsay Cornish brews – especially her stouts! Love Sad Panda Coffee Stout.

Colorado brewery to watch in 2015: There’s more breweries opening?! I hear that Call to Arms Brewing (coming to northwest Denver) is packing heavy hitters. That should be fun.

Most notable craft beer news or trend of 2014: Wow, who isn’t making sour beer now? Love the lower ABVs, too. Crazy barrel beers – tequila, gin, tabasco … Itap not new, but it sure it on the rise.

Craft beer trend to watch for in 2015: More acquisitions and blurrier craft lines, oh boy.
