Police in Lakewood, including the department’s SWAT team, arrested a man accused of assaulting his wife before barricading himself in an apartment with his 2-year-old for seven hours overnight.
The suspect, 29-year-old Kristopher Hayman, surrendered at about 6 a.m. Wednesday after tactical units forced their way into the home. Hayman had told his wife that if police responded “there would be a shootout,” police said.
Police were called to the apartment complex, on the 10500 block of West Jewell Avenue, about 11:30 p.m. The call quickly turned into a barricade situation, according to Detective Ryan McKone.
