LONGMONT — Two years after Jason Grimmer was killed in a New Year’s Eve hit-and-run on Main Street, Longmont police still are seeking the public’s help in finding the driver of the vehicle that struck him.
The 16-year-old from Denver was hit while fleeing a fight that broke out on the 2200 block of Main around 10 p.m. Dec. 31, 2012.
Cmdr. Jeff Satur said the incident began when a group of white men that Grimmer was with began yelling racial slurs at a black man who was leaving work at King Soopers. He said police arrived and told the group of white men to leave and that they moved to a bus stop on Main Street. Police believe that the black man then called friends, who arrived at the scene, and a fight broke out between the two groups.
Grimmer was killed when he ran from the fight.
