A dog that fell through the ice Thursday at Lake Arbor in Arvada was rescued by the Arvada Fire Department.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m., officials said. With no owner at the scene, a search was conducted to ensure that someone had not gone into the water and drowned.
Officials said the lake is shallow enough that rescuers were able to wade around the open ice area. No one was found during the search.
One firefighter sustained a bite injury from the scared dog after the rescue. The pooch was taken by Arvada Animal Control officers to the Lake Arbor Veterinary Hospital to be checked out.
The rescue was filmed and put on YouTube.
