Mountain Vista’s Jon Dalby and Fort Collins’ Mike Caller were named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s on Thursday.

Dalby guided the Vista boys team to the 5A state team title, while Caller led the Fort Collins girls to the 5A girls team championship.

“High school coaches have a profound impact on young athletes’ lives,” USTFCCCA CEO Sam Seemes said in a release. “For so many runners, their high school cross country coach is the person who opened the world of running to them.”

The state-by-state winners were chosen based on their teams’ performances in the 2014 cross country season. The national winners will be announced next week.
