Denver police have identified a by officers on Friday night after he allegedly hit one of them with an SUV and injured another in the city’s Montbello neighborhood.
The boy remains hospitalized at Denver Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The teen has yet to be processed or charged in connection with the incident, police said on Monday.
The Denver Post does not typically name juvenile suspects unless they are charged as an adult.
The two injured police officers , police said.
Denver police have not clarified the circumstances that led to the shooting and the injuries to police. There is an investigative hold on the teen, who will face multiple charges that could include aggravated assault.
If the teen intentionally used the car as a deadly weapon, he could face serious charges, police said.
Police officers had pulled the teen over on an unspecified traffic stop at 8 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of Crown Boulevard before the shooting.
One witness in the neighborhood said he saw the suspect being chased by three patrol cars.
Police said the boy had been previously arrested.
