Getting your player ready...

Our colleague Monte Whaley reports that during the two peak travel times throughout the ski season and will provide real-time road and traffic conditions between Denver and Vail.

It’s a pretty niche interest, so we found ourselves imagining the station as aiming for broader appeal via familiar radio-host archetypes:

Sports radio

“Trying to edge in from the Frisco on-ramp in the red, late-’90s GMC Yukon with the five-stick-figure family sticker in the lower-left, we have John “Big Daddy” Grady, 14-year veteran out of Cal, 5’10” and 265, known for scooting up every available centimeter as if trying to physically outrun the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack playing inside his own car…”

Political pundit

“…just outside of Dillon, traffic is reminiscent of the Healthcare.gov launch, moving so slowly it feels like drivers are moving backward, and the Eisenhower-Hussein-Johnson Memorial Tunnel is getting farther and farther away, like this nation from the values of its founding fathers…”

Irreverent morning DJ

“…I-70? More like Aye-yi-yi-70! Amiright?” [horn honk noise] [fart noise] [screeching tires noise] [noticeably different fart noise] [one million commercials]…

Public radio

“…and we have people calling in, saying to us, you know, it feels so good to be a part of something, to be supporting something I use every weekend, that has become an integral part of my outdoor activity, so, listeners, we’re talking to you — yes, you — stop what you’re doing, pick up the phone, and give us a call while donations are being doubled, so we can end our blockade of the interstate one full hour early!”
