ST. LOUIS — The game story is . Colorado had a chance to finish on the positive side of a five-game road trip, but gets dominated in the second period in a 3-1 loss against the Blues. The Avs, outshot 14-5 in the middle frame, finish the trip with just four-of-10 points (1-2-2).

The Avs also end 1-2-2 against the Blues in the season series. But then again, St. Louis is 4-1 (eight points) against Colorado. Ah, those misleading NHL standings.

You’re not going to win too many games scoring one or two goals, and the Avs didn’t reach three in any game on the trip.

Avs coach Patrick Roy:

Max Talbot played 12:00, third lowest for the Avs, but registered a team-high four shots. Among the top six forwards, only Nathan MacKinnon had more than one. In the last two games against the Blues in St. Louis, Colorado has produced just 38 shots, officially. But the Avs had some great looks in the first and third periods, including Erik Johnson’s pipe-denting shot in the final minutes.
