GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado State Patrol says an elderly man and woman walking a dog were seriously injured when they were hit by a pickup truck in Clifton.

The Daily Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1zOjKL8 ) reports that the couple and the pickup driver were both taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after Sunday afternoon’s crash.

The Clifton Fire Department says the couple were pinned between the truck, bushes and a fence. The dog survived and was turned over to animal control.

The unidentified driver was arrested.
