PUEBLO — Authorities have released the name of a man who was shot to death by police after an attempted home invasion in Pueblo.

The Pueblo Chieftain reported that 26-year-old Orlando Jude Lopez was shot after officers say he fired on them following a foot chase Sunday.

Coroner Brian Cotter says he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses reported seeing two men kicking in a door of a home Sunday and that one of the men was armed.

Police who responded saw two men jump into a vehicle and try to flee. The suspects got into an accident with another vehicle and fled on foot before the shooting.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.

No one else was injured.
