Police in Arvada surrounded a home Thursday afternoon after a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy heard what he thought was a gunshot while attempting to serve civil process papers.

The situation began at about 2 p.m. near the intersection of West 83rd Avenue and Chase Way.

“When the deputy went up to the home he thought he heard a gunshot,” Commander Lee Pinover said.

Pinover said the deputy was not shot at and did not fire his gun.
