Getting your player ready...

Recent warm weather has started opening up some of the smaller ponds. Even larger waters are seeing thinning of the ice along the shore, so use extreme caution ice fishing waters at lower elevation. Ice fishers would do best to head to the high country. The Granby area, North and South Parks, and Red Feather Lakes area all have thicker ice at this time. Some of the best reports are coming out of Wolford Reservoir for rainbow trout. Carter, Horsetooth, Pinewood, Este Lake and Flatiron all have open water for shore anglers. The urban sections of the Arkansas, South Platte and Poudre rivers are all open, and on days when the temperature is above 40 degrees they make for a great winter’s day fishing.
