Interstate 70 westbound has reopened Wednesday afternoon from Georgetown to Silverthorne after closing because of multiple vehicle crashes.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure at about 1:45 p.m. and later extended it. The highway reopened at about 3:30 p.m.

The first crash happened between two vehicles at about 1:30 p.m. and involved a semi-trailer, the Colorado State Patrol said.

A firetruck was involved in one of the subsequent wrecks, the patrol said. Trooper Josh Lewis said it did not immediately appear anyone was seriously injured in the crashes.

CDOT says motorists should expect some remaining delays even though the interstate has reopened.
