Police in Sheridan are searching for three suspects who fled Wednesday night from a police officer in a convenience store parking lot, hitting the officer and knocking him to the ground.

The officer was responding at about 11 p.m. to reports that three males were acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on the 3300 block of West Hampden Avenue.

As the officer pulled up to the store, the three suspects pulled away, striking him. Police say the officer was in a marked patrol unit and in uniform.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a light-blue, four-door sedan. The vehicle, possibly a Nissan Sentra, had no plates and only a crumpled temporary tag in the rear passenger side window, police said.

Authorities believe the vehicle could be stolen.

The suspects face possible charges of second-degree criminal attempted assault, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspects or vehicle is asked to call Sheridan police.
