“In Boulder County, this home is double the price,” says Stephan Heath, showing a Peyton 4-bedroom, 3½ bath home that Lennar Homes is set to deliver next month at Candelas, the sustainably-designed community in Arvada. The price is $549,900 – for 3,359 square feet of finished living space, plus a 3-car garage and a full unfinished basement — walking distance from one of Candelas’ parks, already open, and from its second pool and rec center, on track to arrive in 2016.
The buyer of that home will also have a photovoltaic solar system on the roof: panels that turn free sunshine into enough kilowatts to power a sizable portion of the home’s electric load. That, says Heath, is one reason why Lennar’s Candelas neighborhood is getting buyers who work or currently live in Boulder, a target group that builders in new areas of Arvada have had difficulty attracting. Lennar’s model homes are just 15 minutes via Highway 93 from Boulder’s University of Colorado campus – and numbers of the 17 sales Lennar has logged since opening three months ago have gone to Boulder buyers. “We’re getting families from all over the Denver area, but the value we offer in comparison to Boulder prices is exceptional,” says Heath. The solar system you’ll see on Lennar’s ranch and 2-story model homes is provided and maintained at no cost to the buyer by SunStreet Energy Group, which guarantees that the homeowner can buy solar energy produced on their rooftops at a 20% discount to local rates for the next 20 years. Or, the buyer can purchase the state-of-the-art system. Either way, homeowners will have walk-to access to the park’s ball field and basketball courts, connecting to trails already in place that will eventually span 13 miles across Candelas, linking to 1,100 acres of open space. Schools serving the area include Jefferson County’s Meiklejohn Elementary, Wayne Carle Middle and Ralston Valley High; all well-rated. Those buyers also get Lennar’s ‘Everything’s Included’ standard features: full-width three-car garage, the stainless kitchen, big slab-granite island, rounded corners, a hardwood floor package in kitchen, nook and entry, and smart-home features. “When you compare apples to apples, you’ll find $30,000 to $50,000 of added value included in the base price of our homes,” Heath adds. That applies to the 4-bedroom Peyton scheduled for completion next month, as well as to a roomy Somerton ranch plan, 2,528 square feet plus basement and 3-car garage, set to deliver this summer. To view Lennar’s models, from W. 64th Avenue in Arvada take Indiana north, 2.5 mi. to Highway 72/Coal Creek Canyon Road and turn west three miles to El Diente. Or if coming from Boulder, take Highway 93 south, nine miles to Highway 72, then turn east a mile. WHERE: Lennar’s Candelas, 2 furnished models including ranch, new park & pool arrive this summer; 3-car garage included, 9-foot basement, solar system; 3 homes for early delivery. 19555 W. 94th Ave., Arvada, from I-70 take Ward Rd north 2 mi. to W. 64th, west to Indiana, north 2.5 mi. to CO 72/Coal Creek Cnyn Rd., west 3 mi. to El Diente; or from Boulder take Hwy 93 south 9 mi. to CO 72, east 1 mi.DenverPostHomes.com
