Road work has begun on East Jewell Avenue, between South Hayesmount and South Watkins roads, and should take five months to complete.

The work by Arapahoe County will improve safety, drainage and the road surface on this high-volume corridor east of Aurora.

Traffic will be reduced to one shared lane for the entire two-mile length of the project, and both directions will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Wait times at the temporary signal are anticipated to be approximately six minutes.

Motorists are encouraged to use East Quincy Avenue to the south or Interstate 70 to the north as alternate routes.
