Ike Mundell, who has brought good humor and bartending expertise to the for 2 1/2 years, is moving on. Sunday is his last day after he took a job at at 819 Colorado Blvd.
“I’ve enjoyed working here but I’m looking forward to The Bar Car,” Mundell told me in late January when he took the new job. “It’s a nice-looking room and feels like a good fit.”
The Bar Car is owned and operated by Leigh Jones, the restaurateur behind Denver’s , Horseshoe Bar and .
Since Mundell joined the Avenue team in 2012, the Iowa native has become a popular figure behind the pine at the restaurant, quick with a drink, a quip and passionate knowledge of Big 10 football.
Mundell’s Sunday shift typically starts at 4 p.m., so swing by and bid him adios — even if his new gig is just 3 miles away.
