SoooooEY!! The year’s biggest pork event – Cochon 555 – is back.
The event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Denver on March 8 at 5 p.m., with chefs vying for the title of Prince (or Princess) of Porc. The competition champions family farms, heritage breed hogs and the general chef community.
This year’s competing chefs include Kelly Whitaker of Basta, Matt Vawter of , John Little of Harman’s Eat & Drink, Christopher Thompson of and Rich Byers of the Corner Office. The chefs will prepare up to six dishes and vie for votes from both the public and official judges.
The winner gets to compete for the title of “King or Queen of Porc” at the tour finale, Grand Cochon at Snowmass/Aspen in June, going up against winners from other states. The grand champion gets a 4-day trip to Rioja, Spain’s most prominent wine region.
Judges include last year’s Princess of Porc – Rioja’s – plus Jorge Delatorre of Johnson & Wales, Justin Brunson of , and Jon Emanual, executive chef of Project Angel Heart.
Yes, there will be wine served at the event.
Tickets are $125 for general admission at 5 p.m. and $200 for VIP admission an hour earlier. They can be purchased at cochon555.com.
