Drivers stumped about how to navigate toll lanes around Denver are getting help from a Colorado Department of Transportation website and video.
The website, and the video, were launched Wednesday to convey information in an easy-to-understand way, said CDOT spokeswoman Amy Ford. With more toll lanes — or express lanes — opening in the next year, it is becoming a bigger option for motorists.
“The express lanes are all about choice,” she said. “While we have an express lane on I-25 now, many of these new lanes will function a little differently, so we hope this information is useful to everyone from drivers to transit riders to bicyclists.”
The website includes updated express lanes information. The five-minute video addresses tolling, carpooling, Bus Rapid Transit, passes and has an animation of what many of the express lanes will look like.
Toll lanes currently span seven miles on I-25 between downtown Denver and U.S. 36 and are being added on I-25 in both directions to 120th Avenue and extended on U.S. 36 to Boulder. Those lanes are scheduled to open later this year. Toll lanes also are being planned on I-70 in the mountain corridor, C-470 and I-70 in east Denver.
