Authorities on Tuesday identified the 40-year-old woman found dead at a Glendale apartment building early Monday morning.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Nora Reachel Deleon. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Severiano Almendariz, 55, was arrested on Monday night in connection with the slaying. Police say Almendariz was found hiding in an apartment complex laundry room at about 9:45 p.m. after investigators tracked him down.
Almendariz was initially called a person of interest by police. Officials issued a public bulletin seeking information on him before he was taken into custody.
Deleon was found at about 6 a.m. by officers responding to reports of a homicide at an apartment complex on the 1100 block of South Birch Street.
Police say initial information “quickly identified” Almendariz as being connected to the killing.
Glendale police say they are working with the coroner’s office and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to investigate the slaying.
The coroner’s office said information about Deleon’s cause and manner of death will be released by police.
“We will not be able to release any more information at this time,” police Captain Mike Gross said in a statement.
Officials have been tight-lipped about the homicide, releasing few details to the public. Gross initially said investigators were being mum because of issues notifying next-of-kin.
