March 7-8: The marriage of haunting choral music and stark imagery in “2001: A Space Odyssey” left most of us permanently unable to disassociate the two, casting outer space as a cold, majestic, mind-expanding place. It’s fitting, then, that acclaimed Boulder a cappella group Ars Nova Singers is performing at least one piece from that film (György Ligeti’s “Lux Aeterna”) at its upcoming, years-in-the-making “Out of This World: A Choral Odyssey” show at the Fiske Planetarium. The singers will also tackle pieces from Philip Glass, Boulder’s Paul Fowler and Meredith Monk as the planetarium’s state-of-the-art projection system digitally paints a picture of our strange, wondrous celestial environment. 5 and 7 p.m. March 7; 6 and 8 p.m. March 8 at 2414 Regent Drive in Boulder. $5-$25. 303-499-3165 or .
