Frontier Airlines soon will have nonstop service between Denver and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the airline announced Wednesday.

Flights to Raleigh-Durham, which is in North Carolina’s tech- and science-rich Research Triangle, start June 11.

To mark the announcement, Frontier is at $69 through Saturday.

Travelers may want to grab some shut-eye on the eastbound flight — it’s a “red eye” departing Denver at 11:59 p.m., arriving in Raleigh at 5:14 a.m. The westbound flight departs Raleigh at 6 a.m., arriving in Denver at 7:40 a.m.

Frontier says the addition of this route is proof that the Denver-based airline is exploring new opportunities that are a good fit for its Colorado customers.

“The addition of this new flight further illustrates Frontier’s ongoing and long-standing commitment of providing low fare service to Colorado customers,” Frontier senior vice president Daniel Shurz said.

Frontier in January announced plans to outsource 1,160 Denver ramp, baggage, gate, ticket counter and reservation jobs in a move the company says is necessary to remain competitive.
