A man earlier this week is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, court records show.
Severiano Almendariz, 55, was arrested Monday night in connection with the slaying. Police say Almendariz was found hiding in an apartment complex laundry room at about 9:45 p.m.
Nora Reachel Deleon, 40, was found dead in an apartment building Monday morning. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Almendariz was initially called a person of interest by police. Officials issued a public bulletin seeking information on him before he was taken into custody.
Deleon was found at about 6 a.m. by officers responding to reports of a homicide at an apartment complex on the 1100 block of South Birch Street.
Police say initial information “quickly identified” Almendariz as being connected to the killing.
Glendale police say they are working with the coroner’s office and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to investigate the slaying. The coroner’s office said information about Deleon’s cause and manner of death will be released by police.
“We will not be able to release any more information at this time,” police Captain Mike Gross said in a statement earlier this week.
Officials have been tight-lipped about the homicide, releasing few details.
