A pedestrian was seriously injured early Tuesday morning after being struck by an RTD light rail train in southeast Denver.

RTD said the collision happened at about 12:30 a.m. between the Southmore and Belleview stations. Denver police said the collision happened in the 4800 block of South Quebec Street.

The pedestrian, whose name and condition were not released, was transported to a hospital.

Trains in the area were stopped for about two hours during the investigation, according to Tina Jaquez, an RTD spokeswoman.

It was unclear what led to the collision, Jaquez said.

Denver police are investigating the incident.
