Transamerica Investments and Retirement will pull up stakes in the Denver Tech Center and move downtown to larger digs that will accommodate planned growth.

The firm, a financial services division of Baltimore-based parent company Transamerica Corp., signed a lease for 121,000 square feet at 1801 California.

The division’s Denver-area employment is expected grow from 325 now to 650 in the next few years.

Transamerica now occupies 65,000 square feet at 4600 S. Syracuse St. The relocation will take place in the fourth quarter.

“The number of employees downtown continues to grow exponentially,” said Tami Door, president and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “Transamerica’s decision to move into the city center is further confirmation that future workforce seeks an urban environment with ease of access to other companies and convenient transit options.”

Brokers on the lease were Nicholas Pavlakovich of Cushman & Wakefield, and Mike Rooks and Dan McGowan of JLL.
