A Denver bookkeeper has been charged with embezzling more than $150,000 from her employer over the last several years through a number of schemes, including giving herself a pay raise.
Kristie Marx, 44, faces allegations of computer crime, two counts of theft and two counts of forgery, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Marx is accused of using different schemes to steal from Blue Moon Works, a graphics company that employed her.
“The schemes are alleged to have included charging personal items to a company credit card, giving herself an unauthorized pay raise, manipulating her state and federal withholding tax, writing herself checks from the company account and adding herself and her dependents to the company health insurance plan,” the office said.
Marx was arrested last week and appeared in court on Wednesday to be advised of the charges she faces.
Marx is free on $10,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on April 13.
