Families are on track for a free, fun adventure back in time. On March 7, the Colorado Railroad Museum (17155 W. 44th Ave. in Golden) offers free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Rides cost extra at $4 for adults and $2 for children.) Built as a replica of an 1880s train depot, the museum houses thousands of rare photographs, artifacts and documents highlighting the colorful history of Colorado railroads. Butter up
Fans of fluffy, golden pancakes will flip over this freebie. To celebrate National Pancake Day, IHOP serves a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 3. There are no strings attached. However, guests are asked to consider leaving a donation for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals or other local causes. Early bird
Breakfast tastes so much better when it’s free. Every Tuesday in March, Chick-fil-A offers a free breakfast item from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at its 29 Denver area locations. Here’s a sweet deal for sub sandwich fans. Fat Jack’s Supersubs is now a one-stop shop for sandwiches and ice cream. The local chain just started selling pints of Little Man Ice Cream’s most popular flavors, including Space Junkie, 16th Street Chocolate and Salted Oreo. To promote the cool new partnership, Fat Jack’s is giving away 1,000 pints of ice cream at all five of its Denver locations.
