The unborn child of a pregnant woman who was one of three pedestrians — including a toddler — last month has died, a spokesman for her family and police say.
The woman was identified as Leah Montgomery on a website started to fund her recovery. Montgomery and her husband were expecting a baby girl whom they planned to name Carly Marie, according to the site.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. on Feb. 18 near the intersection of Holly Street and 138th Avenue near Horizon High School. Police said the three pedestrians were struck when a vehicle involved in a crash veered into them.
The drivers of both vehicles in the crash were identified as teenagers.
In a , the woman’s husband said through a family spokesman that she is in stable condition and improving daily. The family said she faces an “extensive recovery period.”
The television station reported that the other two pedestrians struck in the crash were the Montgomerys’ 18-month-old son, who was in a stroller, and his grandmother.
The crash is still under investigation, and a police report is not yet available.
