A man who allegedly burst into a Denver police station while armed with several weapons has been formally charged in a criminal case.

Daniel Ruiz, 33, is charged with first-degree assault and menacing, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office. Both charges are felonies.

Ruiz allegedly drove an SUV onto the lawn of the Denver District Four police station, 2100 South Clay St., on Feb. 23 and entered the building , a hand-gun and a knife, according to court documents.

Ruiz, who had a dog with him, wore a tactical ballistic vest, according to an arrest affidavit. Ruiz, who is being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in a Denver court on Wednesday.
