1 Cup of mice. An Evergreen resident reported Feb. 20 that she found a cup of dead mice in the snow next to her horse trailor. She believed it may be related to a dispute with a neighbor. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy collected photographs, reporting there were no identifiable fingerprints, and the mice had not been there long. (Not on map.)
2 Man steals out of stubborness. A man was caught trying to steal five sets of shoe supports from Walmart, 952 Swede Gulch, Evergreen on Feb. 15 by hiding them inside his pant leg. The man was cooperative and said he had money to buy the supports but thought they were too expensive.
3 Bell students cause a stink. Administrators of Bell Middle School, 1001 Ulysses St., Golden, reported Feb. 18 that three male students had been defacating in areas other than the toilet of a boys’ bathroom. Police could not identify any criminal charges.
4 Joy ride. Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies reported to Walmart, 952 Swede Gulch, Evergreen, where witnesses said a man was drinking beer while driving around the parking lot. The suspect consented to a search of his vehicle, where deputies found three empty beer cans, two full beer cans, two pronographic magazines, lotion and an open container of marijuana. He was arrested.
5 Possible phone scam targets local number. An Evergreen home-based business owner reported Feb. 16 that a customer reached an automated message when she called his toll-free number. It said she won a $100 Walmart gift card requiring her credit card information. (No address reported.)
