Two Cherry Creek District schools were placed on secure perimeter Wednesday afternoon, officials said, because of a burglary at a nearby residence.
West Middle School and Greenwood Elementary were the schools affected. Spokeswoman Tustin Amole said under a secure perimeter, school doors are locked to outsiders, but activities inside the buildings go on as normal .
Amole said the secure perimeter lasted for about 30 minutes; parents were notified by telephone and were told that it ended at about 3:15 p.m.
A spokeswoman for the Greenwood Village Police Department said one suspect in the burglary was taken into custody and officers were deploying K-9 units in search on another.
