The Colorado Department of Transportation and Lakewood police said a pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday night by a vehicle on Wadsworth Boulevard.

A spokesman for Lakewood police said an adult male was crossing Wadsworth from west to east when he was struck by a northbound car.

The spokesman said the car’s driver, who didn’t appear to be at fault, stopped and cooperated with officers investigating the incident.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

CDOT said on its Twitter feed at about 8:30 p.m. that northbound Wadsworth was closed between West 5th Avenue and the Frontage Road because of the incident, and that the off-ramps from 6th Avenue to northbound Wadsworth were closed as well.

There was no estimated time for re-opening, CDOT said.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
