Lakewood police has identified a man who was struck and killed Thursday night on Wadsworth Boulevard.

According to officials, Daniel Houtz, 53,was riding his bicycle eastbound across Wadsworth at 7:50 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup that was traveling north on Wadsworth in the left lane.

Houtz was crossing in mid-block and was not in a crosswalk, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford F-150 stopped and remained at the scene after the accident; detectives investigating the incident said they do not suspect drugs or alcohol are involved on the part of the driver of the truck and will await toxicology reports to make that determination regarding Houtz.

Detectives do not expect to charge the driver of the truck with any violations, officials said.
