Jeremy Hubbard, KDVR

The Colorado Broadcasters Association awards named KUSA station of the year in its 2014 Awards of Excellence. This was the 16th consecutive win for KUSA in the category.

KDVR had a strong showing: Jeremy Hubbard of Fox31 was named best anchor, Justin Joseph and Ric Romero of Fox 31 were honored for and was named best newscast.

KUSA’s Kyle Clark, Chris Vanderveen and Chris Hansen won best public affairs program for their one-year-later reporting on the Colorado floods.

KDEN won best regularly scheduled Spanish newscast, for Noticiero Telemundo Denver, as well as best investigative reporting for “TV Problemas con las Licencias de Conducir.”

Matt Makens of 7News won best weathercaster, Luis Canela of KCEC won best sportscaster.

And “Kyle vs. Kevin,” a silly online popularity contest between KUSA’s Kyle Clark and (formerly KUSA’s) Kevin Torres, making fun of the barrage of local political cammpaign ads, was named best use of new media. Torres is no longer with the station.
