A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Fort Collins on Tuesday morning, police said.

The collision happened at about 7:45 a.m. on the 1900 block of Laporte Avenue.

The boy, later identified as Poudre High School student Connor Walsh, was hit by the right front corner of the suspect vehicle.

Police announced on Tuesday afternoon that a suspect in the hit-and-run turned himself in at about 10:30 a.m.

The driver, Reginald Loewen, 36, of Fort Collins may have fallen asleep at the wheel of his 2003 Subaru Forester when he struck Walsh, according to police.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
