A man who created a disturbance outside his apartment was shot by police officers Saturday evening, according to a Englewood Police Department statement.

The 27-year-old suspect was transported to Swedish Medical Center. The police did not release his name and said the extent of his injuries was not yet known.

The man was causing disturbance outside his apartment in the 5100 block of South Delaware Street, police said. When a neighbor asked him to quiet down the suspect pointed a silver-colored handgun and him and verbally threatened him.

The neighbor called police, who arrived at 8:05 p.m. Both officers were involved in the shooting incident.

They were not injured and have been placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation, the police department said.
