
Littleton Public Schools’ Board of Education will get closed-door legal advice this week to review an arbitration proposal from the family of Claire Davis and discuss it in open session at a later date, Superintendent Scott Murphy announced Tuesday.

Murphy said the district has “always been transparent.” He cited steps taken to deal with safety and mental health, including forming an advisory committee and committing nearly $1 million to adding counselors, social workers and psychologists.

The bill would be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2013, allowing the Davis family to pursue a claim. The family, however, has said it wants more questions answered about the circumstances around the shooting.
A spokeswoman for Mike and Desiree Davis, Claire’s parents, said they are “a bit disappointed” the district wants to postpone a decision.
