Construction crews clean the work site at the new Veterans Affairs hospital in Aurora in December. The VA on Tuesday revised its estimate of how much it expects the project will cost: $1.73 billion. (Brent Lewis, The Denver Post)
Re: “Cost of Aurora veterans hospital leaps to $1.73 billion,” March 18 news story.
Government needs to think outside the box when addressing veterans care. In fulfilling the governmentap pledge to provide health care to all veterans, this should not mean that their health care has to be provided in hospitals built solely for veterans. That promised care can also be provided using existing private doctors and hospitals, for example. $1,730,000,000 can buy a lot of doctor visits and pay for many hospital days.
