
A 38-year-old Routt County man was charged formally Thursday in the death of Edward Zimmerman.
Lucas Johnson was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, second-degree burglary, child abuse, theft, possession of more than 50 pounds of marijuana with intent to distribute and aggravated motor vehicle theft, according to a news release from the Routt County district attorney’s office.
According to the , Johnson and his wife, Kristen, were arrested March 3, after Zimmerman’s remains were found outside a home near Steamboat Springs. Zimmerman had been reported missing five days earlier after missing work.
Lucas Johnson is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Kristen Johnson, 40, is in custody, and formal charges could be filed as early as Friday, according to spokeswoman Donna Zulian.
