Two suspects have now been charged with murder.

Leslie Christine Barrett, 44, appeared in Jefferson County court Friday where she was charged with first-degree murder and 10 other charges. Billy Edward Scott, 53, was charged with first-degree murder and 15 other counts, including charges related to being a habitual criminal, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

The two are charged with killing Troy Allen Pitman, 44, at his home on March 9.

Police say Barrett and Scott sought out Pitman because he had cosigned a bond and the accused had skipped court. When the two arrived at Pitman’s house, he was in the garage with his brother working on a car.

Scott approached Pitman, police said, and there was an altercation. Barrett pointed a gun at the men and told them to stop. Police say she fired and hit Pitman.

Barrett and Scott are being held without bond. Their next court appearance is April 6.
