A bus tour and an April 9 parade in downtown Denver are part of a national effort to create awareness and to push the U.S. Congress to pass a long-term transportation spending bill. The current funding bill expires May 31.

The Regional Transportation District, the Colorado Department of Transportation and several other groups are sponsoring events as part of “Stand Up for Transportation Day” on April 9.

Over the next several days, a bus will travel through all 15 RTD director districts in RTD’s service area. People are asked to sign the bus as a visible sign of support for transportation.

On April 9, RTD and other agencies and groups will hold a unity parade down the 16th Street Mall from Market Street Plaza to Denver Union Station where a rally will take place.

Buses, shuttles, vans and bicycles, along with regional leaders, will lead the parade.
