Three Union Pacific train cars derailed Monday night in Evans in the second Weld County train derailment in as many days.
The cars derailed on a local Union Pacific train that operates between LaSalle and Carr, officials said.
“There were no injuries,” Mark Davis, a spokesman for Union Pacific, said in a statement. “Two of the three cars were carrying fertilizer pellets and the other rail car was empty.”
The cars were cleared from the track early Tuesday and the line was reopened, Davis said.
“The cause of the derailment remains under investigation,” he said.
Early Sunday a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train near Hudson.
About 30 freight cars spilled in that derailment, damaging tracks and diverting Amtrak trains. The line reopened Monday afternoon.
The cause of the derailment near Hudson remains under investigation.
