And you thought James Corden was an interesting choice.

Trevor Noah has been named by Comedy Central to host “The Daily Show” following Jon Stewart’s departure. Noah, age 31, has been a contributor to “The Daily Show” since last year. He has hosted his own late-night show in his native South Africa, “Tonight with Trevor Noah.”

Noah was the subject of David Paul Meyer’s award-winning documentary film “You Laugh But It’s true” which tells the story of his career in post-apartheid South Africa. He also performed a one-man show at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, “The Racist.”
