Former Denver Nugget and NBA superstar Dikembo Mutombo will lead an 11-person class headed to the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
The class of 2015 features Kentucky coach John Calipari, WNBA star Lisa Leslie and another former Denver player in Spencer Haywood.
The famed shot-blocker and master of the finger wag joined The Sports Show AM with Eric Goodman last week and discussed his time with the Nuggets, the incredible playoff victory over the Seattle Supersonics and even should he get in.
The speculation is over and Monday on the Sports Show, The Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala joined Woody Paige and Les Shapiro to speak about Mutombo’s election to the hall of fame.
Jhabvala said that Mutombo is most proud of his work off the court. She said he built a $30 million hospital in the Congo.
“He said the work he’s done off the court is just one of his proudest things,” Jhabvala said.
Woody Paige said that Mutombo is the first great player from Africa.
