The former first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state , .

Among those thrilled at the idea: Coloradans Meg Froelich and Laura Hoeppner, who produced and wrote “Strong Sisters,” a documentary film in production. They interviewed more than 60 women.

“Many of the past and current elected women we have interviewed for our film believe the time has come for a woman to be elected president, and they also think that it’s time for Colorado to elect a woman to the U.S. Senate and to the governor’s office,” they said in a statement.

Froelich and Hoeppner said their research points to the many obstacles that make the election of women to higher office especially difficult, such as access to donors and the caucus system, which often drives the parties to their extremes.

“Our research for the film highlights Colorado’s strong history of women in elected office, especially at the local and state legislative levels,” they said. “Given our history, Colorado may see a great deal of attention from the olitical parties and campaigns in 2016.”

Democratic political consultant Laura Chapin also is gung ho for a Hillary candidacy.

“My mom would love to see the first woman president happen in her lifetime, and so would many, many other women,” she said.

“The Republican primary has been and will be a race to the bottom on issues affecting Coloradans, from supporting middle class families to immigration reform to reproductive and privacy rights. I think a lot of Colorado voters will look at Hillary and think, ‘She represents my values. They don’t.’”

The RNC, meanwhile, has launched a $100,000 that leaders say “is highlighting the scandals and questions already clouding her candidacy.” In a news release, they talked about Clinton’s poll numbers, .

“From the East Wing to the State Department, Hillary Clinton has left a trail of secrecy, scandal and failed liberal policies that no image consultant can erase,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Voters want to elect someone they can trust and Hillary’s record proves that she cannot be trusted. We must ‘Stop Hillary.’”
