Colorado College Professor Tom Cronin’s political science class got an up close and personal look this week at making sausage when visiting the state Capitol.
Students spent time in both the House and the Senate, visited with Gov. John Hickenlooper and his political guru, Alan Salazar, and met with Lt. Gov Joe Garcia.
I also spoke to the group at lunch and was asked if I could hook up anybody at the Capitol to a lie detector who would it be and what would I ask. I pleaded the fifth, but what a great question.
During lunch, various alums spoke to the students, including Denver Post reporter Jesse Paul, state Rep. Jeni James Arndt of Fort Collins and lobbyist Ed Bowditch. Arndt and Bowditch were classmates. Also speaking to the group was Rep. Pete Lee, D-Colorado Springs, whose district includes Colorado College. He urged students to contact him and talked about one of his pet issues, .
In the afternoon the class viewed two Court of Appeals trials, then finished up at The Denver Post.
